Ignoring handrawn, (weren't you leaving TG for some important assignment? ), I used Conical fills for the five colored sections but probably you could use a 3 or 4-color fill to replicate the Mesh Fill effect. And a Circular-filled gray to white circle on top with Multiply transparency to add the shape.

all in good time MR G...
I quote from the Graphic Chat Forum 'Definition' : "If your graphics related topic doesn't have its own forum, here's the place to discuss it." - now I will grant that does not actually say 'no-xara products here please' but I am sure it is not in the spirt intended...
but who am I to argue, I stopped being a mod ages ago....
if I had time I would dig out lots of examples of being told to stick to the topic of a thread - which in this case is how to do it in illustrator, not just 'how to do it any old way'
but if people wish to show how clever they are with xara, which they are perfectly entitled to do of course, then surely it would be better done in the xara forum where it may get better exposure... or am I being silly yet again?

Nope, no silliness here, Steve.

At the risk upsetting anyone by posting more off-topic comments...
@gwpriester your design experience and depth of knowledge shines through in your interpretation of the graphic in post #12. Very nice. I’m going to have another go and try with conical fills, which I've never used before.
@handrawn: I do take your points on board, particularly because of the title of this thread. But to be honest I was only trying to be helpful with my original, albeit off-topic post. My thinking at the time was to offer a Xara Designer perspective to the problem for use as a possible starting point in Illustrator, and demonstrate the helpful and positive spirit of the Talk Graphics forum, especially to someone just starting out (it was their first post). Anyway, over and out on this subject from me.

Since LucianoUK posted a drive by request and has not returned, how about I move the original image and start a new thread in Challenges to see how we can reproduce this effect in Xara? That make everybody happy?
