Weird server error message

When I try to publish via ftp I get an error message saying 'FTP: Weird server reply'. The login seems successful, and the upload progress box appears, then it hangs, and I get this message. Any ideas?

I've no idea. I suggest you contact your web hosting service and ask them why you're getting this error message.

Thanks. Yes, I've contacted them and still waiting. I posted this because it is a Xara error message, so someone in Xara must know the circumstances in which this error is displayed.

Xara is reporting a standard ftp error. Try uploading using Filezilla or similar ftp program. Do you get the same error?

No. I've uploaded the site with Filezilla, no problem with the upload. The only issue is that on some pages the mobile content is overlaid on the main pages. Don't get that. Only one or two pages affected.

The original error seems to be that too many channels are being used for the upload, but I can't see anywhere to set a limit either in Xara or on my hosting service. You can do it easily in Filezilla, but don't need to. Bizarre, but at least I've got my files up in some sort of order.
