Default How to invoke Home command for web page?

I have a button toward the bottom of a long web page entitled "Return To Top". Currently, the button is assigned a web property of "Top of page".

Unfortunately, this results in an unsettling rapid scroll back to the top. But in the same situation, the keyboard's Home key instantly returns the page to the top (i.e., without scrolling).

How can I assign a Home key action to the button on my page?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    (I'm using Pro X9)

Try using a # instead for your link,

    1. That works!
    2. How should I have known to use that? (I can't find even a hint of it in the documentation.)

    Glad to help.

A hash (#) is how anchors in HTML are set up: <URL>#anchor.
<URL># on its own is simply jump to an unspecified anchor location, which by definition is the top of the current page.

You can thererore use # for NavBars and rollovers to test a page without having a real link.

That (in the html) makes a lot of sense. Xara should add a note in the help file, because their top-of-page method is, well, clunky.

Thanks very much for the solution and the explanation.

You can also use the pound/hash sign link to test buttons and linked objects before you apply the link. In the browser you see the mouse over effect or hand icon just as it will be with an actual link.

a variation that doesn't leave a hash (#) hanging to the end of your URL is to set Web Properties > Link to web or email address as index.htm.
I also include Open link: Same window (_top).
