    Default VAG Rounded

There's always been precious little about the four-family member VAG Rounded font.

After looking around for something totally unrelated, VAG Rounded is short for "Volkwagen AG" , the AG being the German equivalent of a corporation limited by share ownership. The copyright is 1979, and the VAG face itself was created by Sedley Place the same year. Linotype has a version that Adobe licenses, and the font reminds me of a typeface URW put out years ago called Frankfurter.

    My Best,

    Gary

I like VAG rounded. As a draftsman, it reminds me of the lettering we used to get when using lettering templates, because the technical pens naturally had round ends.

As long as I brought up the topic of Gothic rounded fonts, Frankfurter Medium is available from URW and it has both u&lc character. There is also a font out there called Frankfurter Neue by Edson & Eliane, that's all the info I have and it's quite bold and has u&lc characters. Here's the similarity between Frankfurter Medium and VAG Rounded Bold:

And there's a very good, free substitution for VAG Rounded, Linotte

DaFont published it without my consent or permission, it was one of the first typefaces I ever created, and I think I gave it away on Xara Xone years ago. Thanks for remembering it! And yeah, I dislike blowing my own horn, or any other brass section instrument.
