Hi Munenushi, perhaps this is a little closer to your example. I have not used the Xara 3d software in over 2 years, so I'm a little rusty, sorry.

I've been working on this for awhile. This is far from perfect and fiddly to accomplish but I hope it is somewhat close to what you are looking for.

Thanks for the ideas you guys! I can't seem to find the right controls that adjusts it on my own....
@wizard509
That is practically it! Did you have to match up the Side Textures with the Background Texture perfectly? That must have taken a lot of work
What I did was Clone the text, One layer of text extruded with no transparency.
Another layer transparent no extrude.
This is where the fiddly part came in.
I had to move, line up both as best I could and change the size of the non transparent text so it fit over the transparent extruded text.
I wonder what would happen if both texts were selected and rotated with the 3D tool to see more of the top. Guess I'll try and find out.
The multicolored rectangle was only there so you could see what was transparent and what was not. I kept trying to line up both texts and I thought I had it but when I looked at the png it was off.

Just finished another version of the transparent sides I think this one looks bitter.

I used XP&GD with the blend tool to create the 3D and then applied a linear transparency.
