Default Best Way To Have an Overlay on Images so Can Add Text

    Hello

Looking to add text on my header image that you can see, most sites now use an overlay so you can see the text clearly on the images.

What would be the best way to do this in web designer. Sites like paypal use it well on the header, well my paypal.

Thanks for any help with this.

    either the answer is

add an image and add some text

    or

    i don't understand the question

As Frank says, Just add some text.

If need be add a drop shadow with the Shadow Tool (Wall Shadow). Or if the image is not dark enough or not light enough, add a black panel over the photo, and apply a Linear, Multiply transparency.

Thank you, you can see an example here, sometimes the colors of an image take over the text.

When you say panel do you mean the rectangle tool?

See here, the header it has an overlay https://www.avast.com/premier

OK In the example you have linked to, you would add a rectangle that covers the entire image. Apply a solid black fill. Then apply a Flat, Multiply transparency. Move the Transparency slider to the right until it is about 60-80%. This makes the whole photo darker and now you can add text and graphics.
