Getting Object NAMES to show up in LAYERS Gallery -- How?

Please excuse me if this is answered somewhere else. I've spent more than 1.5 hours searching, and cannot find the answer among the >17,000 threads here or on the Xara site or on YouTube.

The issue is naming objects, and getting those names to show up in the Pages and Layers gallery.

I've figured out how to name my objects, and when I go to the names gallery, those names show up just fine. When I click to select the name, the selection handles appear around the correct shape object.

However, when I go to the Pages and Layers gallery, the groups are simply named "group" and all the shapes within each group are simply named "shape."

So here's the question: How can I get the names I have assigned to my objects to show up in the pages and layers gallery?

Effusive thanks to anyone who can point me in the right direction, and apologies if this is something simple that I should have been able to find easily.

By the way, if we cannot do this, then why not!!

If not, then this should be one of the highest-priority upgrades for the next version.

Your request seems logical for certain situations but might cause conflicts in others because a named object might be part of a group of objects that are also named. In addition, some objects may have more than one name. Which name to show in the P&L Gallery?

This is a new feature with the 365 versions. If you are using an older version it cannot be done.

Yeah, but...just naming something in in the P&L gallery doesn't show up in the Name gallery nor vice-versa. Which I believe is what the OP wants.

OK Mike, I take your point.

You have to name the object both on the page via the Apply Names icon and in the Layers Gallery. Automatic for one or both would be good.

I have moved this to Dear Xara because it is more of a feature request.

I've had a dialogue with Xara on this: "Not adding the detail into the Names gallery and the Image > Image caption (Alt Text) is a wasted opportunity."

For instance, the other day Acorn came up with some code for a placeholder that required the object to have two names.
