Default Update, Upgrade or wait ?

    Hi,

i am confused and need a little help

I own Xara Designer Pro X 11 (German Version)
Now ther ist a newer Version in english. Xara Designer Pro X 365
There is a new version in german called Xara Designer Pro X (without the 11)
    Are they identical ?

Why there are so different names ? Why are the names different in germany ? Why not only count the number of the versions. 10,11, 12 and so on.

Is it possible to get a upgrade from Pro X 11 to PRO X ?
What is the different between this two versions ?

    Thank you for your help.

    Confused.....

    Hello Harley

What should be Xara Designer Pro X12 is now called Xara Designer Pro X365. Except Magix, the company that owns Xara, and sells the same product but with the Magix name is not sure they want to call the product 365. You are not the only person who is confused.

The reason for 365 is the product will be updated and new features added during the year (365 days), instead of only when the new version is released.

Yes, you can upgrade from Designer Pro X11 to X365. Visit the Xara or the Magix site.

    I've received my new DVD.

It's just labelled a generic Designer Pro X.

No mention of 12 or 365, the only hint as to version is a copyright 2016 in small print on the DVD.

I notice the new version splash says Designer Pro X in big letters and V12 in small print but no 365 anywhere ?

It's just ridiculous what Xara/Magix are doing to confuse people.

Product choices should be clear and unambiguous.

    It's a total mess.

It's not your fault DD and Harley.

Paul, I don't think this is being done to fool people. I think the 365 concept was rolled out before Xara and Magix were both totally agreed on all aspects. Help > About Designer Pro X will show that it is a 12 version product.

Xara are still referring to Designer Pro X365 on their website http://www.xara.com/us/designer-pro/ but the actual product itself shows Xara Designer Pro X in the title bar at the top left. It is not a pretty picture.

I agree, intentional or not it's confusing the heck out of people.

It's marketing 101 to have clearly identifiable products.

hear hear - it's what we called in essex a total 'mare or a pig's ear or any other humorous euphemism to describe a marketing department staffed by meerkats on crack
