well mike at the moment the bridge image at the link in post #3 is 1034 x 755 pixels [same as for egg] at 96dpi for me
maybe the image has been changed... or we in the UK get something different

I have never really cared what Xara does or reports, btw. All I care about is the PX dimensions and what the effective resolution is after sizing on the page.
However, it is correctly reported and placed using X11. XDP 365 ought to have not broken that.
DPI is completely irrelevant on a monitor anyway. Only the number of pixels is relevant.

Hi Mike, indeed the image is 2000 x 1460. I downloaded it from the image viewer which wasn't at full zoom. Downloaded at correct size now.
The 2nd import is 6.7 inches wide.

I have plug-ins turned off, Egg. So I cannot see (any) of your videos.
ok thanks guys you can tell how often I use google docs... now downloaded at '300 dpi' - and as mike says more to the point 2000 x 1460 pixels - and there is no difference in what is reported: 2000 x 1460 pixels 300dpi in both version's bitmap galleries
and 640 x 467 in the workspace which it would be at 300dpi
so I'm still at a bit of a loss...
gallery reports 2000 x 1460, the correct absolute size, at 300dpi the size that the bitmap's internal info says it is intended for use at
in xara workspace it is resized to the size you would see it printed at 300dpi, 640 x 467 pixels on the screen, which is what xara does...
all seems ok....
EDIT: attach xdp 365 [aka X ver 12] screenshot
