I have tried to add that button to my custom toolbar, but it isn't listed.

EDIT - this is what Egg has already sugested...
the ants are there all right - try copying your selection to clipboard, deleting the selection and then pasting back in place - that seems to work for me if I've now understood you right

I now do this :-)
But this never happened before in previous versions, I checked in Designer 11, which is the 2nd image in my post.
so I don't understand why this is happening now, but Egg's solution works fine, thanks again Egg :-)

I did not upgrade to X365 yet, but I was looking through Release notes, and looks like Ctrl-H will toggle the marching ants outline. Attaching a screenshot from the release notes page.
