    Default a couple of questions

Hi, first problem im having is that im trying to move the footer up on the home page to clsoe up a gap and wont move, however on the other pages i can do so.
    Any ideas/
Second question. Im redoing an active website using existing page links and some of these have capitals for the page names eg www.example.com/Page1
XWB premium wont allow capitals when changing page names. Anyway around this. I dont really want to have to redirect 21 pages as the google rankings on the site are very good.
    thanks

All page names shown in the Page & Layer Gallery are lowercase which is probably a safer naming convention as some servers have trouble with capitalized page names.

I would think that changing the page names to lowercase will have no effect on your page rankings and if anything demonstrates that your site has been recently updated.

Not sure why moving your footer is a problem on your home page. Maybe one of the other members will have a suggestion.

You could use 301 redirects to redirect www.example.com/Page1.htm to www.example.com/page1.htm

thanks. i deleted the page with problem footer and copied everything to a new page and worked fine.
Im trying to avoid the redirect if i can, unless i have no choice but to do so.
Im concerned if i load the new site and reidrects all at once it may affect the google rankings. page content and titles are basically the same.

    301 Moved Permanently

A 301 redirect is a permanent redirect which passes between 90-99% of link juice (ranking power) to the redirected page. 301 refers to the HTTP status code for this type of redirect. In most instances, the 301 redirect is the best method for implementing redirects on a website.

thats right. If i dont do a redirect then it will be duplicate content. If i can just change the case of the letters i need i wont need to do so.

Will Page1.htm be replaced by page1.htm? That won't be seen as a duplicate page as Page1.htm will no longer exist. A 301 Redirect just ensures outdated links to the old Page1.htm are automatically redirected to page1.htm.

yes so basically where i had Page1.html the replacement will be page1.html.
Will i need to do a 301 as the original Page1.html is already indexed.

I would say yes, do a 301 redirect for each of the 21 pages otherwise it will take time for SE's to find the new links and meanwhile you'll be loosing traffic.
