Default Image size - different input from what shows on web?

    Hi all,
Apologies for the questions I'm asking at the moment. Again, I have searched for this but if I've missed an oft-repeated issue please can someone point me in the right direction?

I'm having to reduce the size of my images so that my pages load more quickly. I've reduced one image to 86kb and I put it on the site, upload it, then when I drag the same image OFF the site the file size is 356kb.

I don't understand it! These images are also taking longer to load.

Have I missed something terribly obvious?
    Many thanks in advance.
    Yours,
    Robert

Try Utilities > Optimize Photo and select JPEG if this is appropriate and 96dpi. If you might un-check Retina Hi def images in the Website Properties > Website section. When this option is selected Xara creates two versions of each image, one at 96dpi (Windows resolution) and 192dpi for Tablets that have higher resolution displays.
