This error keeps poping up at random times. I haven't been able to attribute it to any specific action or document. Can anyone throw some light on it? The program seems to be working correctly apart from this annoying error pop up.

Welcome to TG Derbatz. Unfortunately these error codes are only meaningful to Xara Devs, not us mere mortals.

Try the options below:

Close Xara and restart & reloa your file. Is it still giving error messages?

Reboot you machine & repeat the above.

Close Xara & right click over the launch icon & select "Run as Administrator". Youll only be required to do this once.

If all the above fail, send your file to Xara Support.

I've had this error today since I updated the system, a bit disturbing that nobody from Xara has answered this since it was first reported in June.

Usually the error message flags a place in a routine where something is not working. Many of these are annoying but not fatal. I usually do Egg's first suggestion and the problem goes away. But not forever. There are certain actions that combined with other actions produce this error message. Kind of like chemistry.

It will be down to what DLLs were in use at the time of your upgrade. Few people shut down other applications and expect Windows to handle it all. The steps Egg suggests are pure recovery from how Windows needs to release these library files and not really a Xara issue.
