Never give up. You will never fail, but you may find a lot of ways that don't work.

This is just what I was looking for. Thank you, Egg, for creating a very clear and detailed tutorial and thanks to everyone for sharing expertise and providing help....you are all 'Xara magicians' and I have a lot to learn. I will post the file once it's finished.

Great video Egg and I also like the ring xar file you posted, both excellently done.

I didn't use the extrusion tool.
My ring is simply a stack of different colored rings that have been feathered to simulate 3d.

Just a bit of fun folks but Eggs Xara file, which I pulled a part and learned a few tricks from it, is well worth down loading.
Both the .xar file and video are excellent. Cheers Egg.

I posted a load of these type of stationary xar files a while back. I re-attach them here.

Hello, again. Egg, I followed your tutorial and it worked perfectly. Brilliant. Please, folks, check the file attached. The area where the ring enters the hole doesn't look good. What should I do to fix it and make it look more realistic? Thanks for your help!

    Hi Canova,

Have a look at the attached.

I've simply cloned the original ring, and used a linear transparency to get the desired result.

Make adjustments until it meets your requirements.
