huum I think I'd better keep my views on coffee to myself after the steak issue - what I will say is I was brought up to drink espresso neat and chase it with a glass of cold water only.. no milk, no sugar, no' anything in the espresso itself; like malt whisky only slightly larger measures...

on the subject of the bbc news reporting here is another gem that might prompt the need for strong coffee, or stronger....

    The appartment thing is outrageous.

My grandparents drank 'Camp' coffee - it was quite horrible.

I doubt they or my parents would know what an espresso is.

I can imagine Gary P. following the Australian coffee scheme.

camp coffee... you mean the glass bottles with the labels that were designed to reflect british colonial rule in an oh so 't ain't half 'ot mum sort of way? - the stuff that was sugar/chicory/and somewere in the syrup some actual coffee lurking about?

well it kept well; guess that was the point

It's all a lot of hot air, emulsion, water and a solute of caffeine in more water and washing up liquid.
