Default Need help putting text around a circle

Hi, I'm new here and I am stumped out typing text around a circle. I used Photo and Graphic Designer 2013; have read the Help topics on this matter and still cannot do it. Does anyone have an easy to understand way of explaining it to me? Thanks.

Probably because Xara doesn't view a SmartShape (circle) as an object with a curve.

To force a SmartShape to be an editable shape, clone it and Combine Shapes > Add Shapes.
Then select the Text Tool and move the cursor over the shape until the point changes and then click to select the curve - start typing.

That's a bit complicated Acorn. Why not just draw the circle --->type your text---->select both(use marquee tool v and drag around both or with one selected hold Shift when you click the other----->go up to the top menu Arrange, then go down to Fit text to curve and click. If your text is not in the right place just rotate it around till your're satisfied.

Probably 'cos I'm dense. I tried fitting text to curve but couldn't make it work - the trick is selecting both.

If you draw your circle using BOUNDS CREATION rather than Radius or diameter creation, and hold CTRL to constrain it to a full circle, the quadrant points stay at 0, 90, 180 and 270 degrees, and make the final positioning of the text a lot easier.
