Thanks Ben. I am using Windows 10 and have had no problems. From what I have gathered Mindows Vista has many issues.

Never give up. You will never fail, but you may find a lot of ways that don't work.
I still have Vista Ultimate Larry and I have never had a problem with it, this new update for P&GD11 is the first problem I've ever had. I will be buying a new comp. soon so I have no doubt I will be or forced to using Windows 10 of which I'm not to happy about with its "phone home" capabilities.

Same on Windows 10.... so not just "basically the patch will not run on Windows Vista"
Thanks...
It's 10:39 Pacific Standard Time and I've just successfully done the update so it may be fixed now I did have to use the help> check for updates route as it didn't automatically pick up the update but all went well.

Restarted Xara Designer Pro X11 to see if it picked up an update. It did in fact check but informed me I was using latest version (Novembers). Manually clicked check for updates and it picked up there was a new version. Choose update immeadiatley and it said I had a corrupt version. Clicked Retry (or similar) button. Installed update with no problems this time.
Launching now almost instant
