Theo, raise a ticket with Xara and send them the file.

A file could get corrupted by all manner of means that may be out of Xara's hands.

Theo, have you tried reinstalling Xara? There is something really strange going on. I don't have the problem in the file where I have manually copied the pages to a new document. There are 59 pages and when I create a new blank page (or duplicate of current page) only one is created ending up in 60 pages.
    I just checked that again.

I will have a go before raising the ticket as Acorn suggested.

    I'll be back!

I uninstalled and reinstalled WD but I fear that it made not one jot of difference.

    BUT

I am, rather tentatively, suggesting that I might have a working copy of my web site.

I can't remember who repaired the file for me but it appeared as a zipped file called "transfer" and within the file the WD file was called "repaired". I got is a few days ago but only this evening tried it out. And it certainly seems to be repaired. I have added pages and deleted them again without the irritating duplication. I will continue to treat it with caution but I would certainly like to thank the clever person who sorted it and I am sure that we would all like to know how he sorted it.

Thank you, all of you who have worked at this. I am very, very grateful.

I think that it would be sensible to raise the issue with Xara. They ought to know that the problem exists.

Theo, one thing about the file I uploaded: I only copied the pages, so you will need to copy your document settings and website options ( HTML head and body code for example ) from your original file.

I only got around to raising the ticket just a few minutes ago. I have been rather busy. I will certainly post here when they answer.

    this is what I sent:

    Dear Sir

The problem that I am having has been discussed at length on the Web Design Chat forum and several members have offered me help and suggestions.

The problem showed itself when I edited the index page of my site but I believe that it would have happened with any of the pages. As far as I can remember, I did not make any attempt to duplicate the index page but I copied and pasted new text to it from a Wordpad file that had been emailed to me.

I noticed the error when I had uploaded the site and found that the amendments had not appeared on the home page. Having navigated to another page and then clicking on a link to home I found that the new home page did appear.

Looking at the site in DP11 showed two versions of the home page numbered 1 and 2 but both with exactly the same name. Deleting one of them always deleted both.

I suspect that this problem occurred when I created a variant and then decided to undo the creation but unfortunately none of my backups are before this time so I have only the faulty file to send.

I have reinstalled DP11 with no change to the situation. I have attached the file of the web site and look forward to your comments.

My present connection (through a mobile phone on a narrow boat) is very slow. It does not appear that I can upload the file directly but this link should take you to a DropBox file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/h8915b4btbjfsnh/MOWS WD11.web?dl=0

    Yours faithfully

    N A Cooke
