Similar to map art for 3D extrude tool in xara ?

Hi,

Does anyone know if Xara photo & Graphic designer 10 has a commercial plug in which could be similar to map art to place 3D work on different invisible geometries
such as spheres, triangles etc..

From the release notes...

It's our intention to publish a programming API that will allow third parties to extend Designer to add their own features, tools and SmartShapes. These are all written in the Javascript language. The API is not ready to be released yet, but if you are a Javascript developer and are interested in using this in future, please send us a support ticket to register your interest and we will contact you when it’s available.

I would think it would be a challenge to do this in JavaScript. Until a commercial plugin or a XPD feature comes along you could always try one of these <25-free-3d-modelling-applications> to map a design onto the 3D object and then trace it back in Xara.

And, for this specific example of mapping an arrow to a cylinder, the mould tool already present in Xara does an OK job.

Do you know exactly a certain one out of those 25 freewares that can do exactly what i need?
I have sketchup but seems it cant map shapes on 3D object just photos.

If you have sketchup why don't you just model the thing?

If you take the time to learn modeling in sketchup, you can export the scene as a PDF and open it in Xara as an editable vector file.

Blender is an INCREDIBLE and excellent piece of work..........for the very patient. lol But, my shortcomings aside, Blender is a gift to the world.
