    I've downloaded many times, and get the same problem.

    I just tried changing the Guideline colour.
    This is the error I get:

    Strange that I can create my own .xml file, with various options to change, as well as the 'Guideline colour' change.
    And things work OK.

    I can apply the changes and can see that they've been updated in the registry.

    I may have found a couple of issues that could be causing the problem.

    It may be that the 32bit and 64bit options are different?!

    I'm only using the 32bit version.

    In the 'General 1' section, there's an entry that says:
    entry="HighQualityAA"
    and I think it should be:
    entry="Rendering:HighQualityAA"

    Then there's another entry that says:
    entry="Galleries:HarderToDock"
    I don't have this as a registry entry, in my registry, in the first place?

    Also...

    In the 'FTP' section, there are many entries, that I simply don't have in my registry.
    So, I've disabled the 'FTP' section in the .xml file.
    And now I'm not getting any errors.

    I'll look into these issues. I believe XRE does not handle well registry entries that don't exist. I'll let you know here in the forum about any news. Meanwhile, thanks for the feedback!

    Also, on your site (http://hypervisual.com/xre/help/introduction.html) you should put the version number next to 'Latest version'. Then the visitor will know whether it's worth downloading.
    Good idea. I'll do that.

    on Rik's lead, i ran thru XRE to track the changes (DPv11 64bit) and found only entries in General (1) would actually update the registry. anything else other than General (1) will display the correct info but will not update the registry if an entry is changed.
    everything i was adding i added to General (1) so it worked when testing it. adding to any other section will not update changes. moving anything from any other sections to General (1) updates on changes then

    Hmmm... Really odd, and I can't reproduce this behavior here (my version is X10, but this doesn't make sense). I don't have any ideas on what may be causing this, all nodes are updated at the same time. Did you try changing the order of sections in the XML file?

    For XRE002, I meant the hint information to be save to the XML file, not the Registry.
    This is easy, just edit the XML file as you wish.

    For XRE003, if have have an XML file form a friend I may open it and make a change to an entry I like and adopt it. but not want to apply anything else as it might be good for them but not for me.
    Just make the changes you want and don't touch the others. The unaltered values will be rewritten as they were. Better yet, just delete the items you won't ever touch from the XML file.

    I've just uploaded version 1.0.3 which (does not yet, sorry) seems to solve the crash when working with registry entries that don't exist yet. Please download it.

    Still working on it...
