What is the difference (is it that you can have colors in your "Color Gallery but aren't actually in the drawing itself?) AND why aren't any colors listed when I click on the "Used colors" folder in the "Name Gallery"?

a named colour means that all instances of that colour in the document will have that name assigned to them
local colours [unnamed ones] do not have this labelling, you can create two 'different' unnamed colours that are actually exactly the same colour
you can make the unnamed colours appear in the name gallery - there is a registry key for this [they will be called 'unnamed1......']
they not apper by default because they are supposed to be used 'on-the-fly'; if you want control over your colours you name them

sorry ron that is complete and utter rubbish - you can have two named colour the same hex code
I think I need to go to bed
basically it's to do with organisation - selecting all the named versions of one colour means they can be changed and modified easily
local colours like i said, are on the fly...
