    Default Ungrouping, editing, and regrouping a navigation bar.

    In XWD11 Prem.

    I am using the nav bar from the web template "Primary". I've added all my pages and would like to make the nav button colors sequential

    Green --> Orange --> Red --> Blue --> Green --> Orange --> Red --> Blue --> etc, etc...

    However, when a new page is added, the nav bar assigns the color Green to subsequent button backgrounds.

    I've tried ungrouping, changing the button color, selecting all of the buttons, and then Create Navigation Bar (under the Arrange drop-down).

    I then get an option box that asks how I would like the buttons replicated. I've tried each of the options but I wind up getting horrible results such as all the buttons the same size, color. It's just a mess.

    I thought this would be an easier, more intuitive thing to do. Any idea how I can assign specific colors to the nav bar buttons without it exploding on me?

    The only way to do this, and it is not hard at all, is create one button with the usual button states, duplicate the button and change the colors, duplicate and change the colors, etc. Each button links to one page and you can have sub menus if you want.

    It is not automatic but it works fine. I did this for my DPX11 first look review http://xaraxone.magix.net/XDPX11/#xl_xr_page_page-1

    So, just to be clear, I'm not grouping all of the buttons in the end as a single navigation bar. Each button will be a stand-alone element?

    If that's the case, I don't know how Xara combined different color buttons in their Primary web template. It doesn't make sense to me.

    I think Gary missed the point that you're after a NavBar with sub-menus. Unfortunately, I think the Primary NavBar was not created with XWD11P or any of Xara's products directly. The clue is in the re-creation options only allowing a clone of the First or Second button attributes.

    The workaround is to Ungroup the Primary NavBar and then Create a single button NavBar for each coloured button (e.g., Home (G) | About (O) | Services (R) | News (B)); you then soft-group these four buttons and you have a rainbow NavBar.
    To add a fifth button, soft-ungroup the buttons, clone and move the (G) button to the right, change its label and sub-menu detail and soft-regroup all five buttons. Repeat as required.

    Ah, that makes sense. I'll give that a shot. Thanks, Acorn.
