It's a shame the wide templates aren't in WDP11... but they're pretty easy to make

Stretch image is your friend... and adding fx to items (etc) is a mere mouse-click away.

I made a 'wide-ish' site recently for a client and it was fairly painless (having said that, I still need to go back and make the mobile variant - but they wanted to go live without it).

From a design POV, these new style sites follow a few basic design principles (some of which I ignored for my last client, LOL!)... but they're actually quite formulaic.
