Is MS Office 360 an example of cloud computing?

    Do you mean Office 365?
In which case, the answer is yes.

Just bought it and love it.

Great way to get the best business app suite on the planet for peanuts.

I asked. Will I be able to save and work in a desktop ONLY environment?

Cloud Computing will you just FO.

I love onenote, when I decided to upgraded to the 365 suite to get the current version I was concerned with having to use their Onedrive platform and become part of the "cloud" movement.

Nope, not necessary. No problems with local files. Of course you can go cloud if you desire.

All programs install to the computer you load them on.

Same for all of the other "best in class apps" they offer. Seems we got more than what they advertise.

Office 365 why I don't know installed the lot, including Access.

Don't ya just love that program?

    I am a fan.

Office 365 is definitely worth a look.

Some love cloud computing, and some don't.
    You obviously do!

Putting the cloud computing aspect to one side for a second, we were paying ridiculous amounts of money to have ms office installed on all the computers in the office, we have since the past couple of years moved over to openoffice and not looked back, basically the same product but it's free.

    Rik,
That article was MOST informative. When I bought my new computers for myself and my wife I was, of course, offered the Office 365 option. I had concerns at the time about "what if" my internet connection was down? So, not really knowing the answer and not having investigated what Office 365 would really mean to ME, I opted to purchase MS Office to aleve my concerns about not being able to access my files anytime, not having to rely on an internet connection.
After reading the article I feel much better about my decision, even though, it's more expensive and will require eventually purchasing a new MS Office down the road.
    Thanks Rik!

Most users will be very happy with OpenOffice - very few people are actually using features of the MS offerings that aren't in OpenOffice. I don't know why home users need to buy the full blown microsoft product.

Unfortunately Paul, microsoft has a much larger marketing budget, your typical layman will not have an idea that an alternative to ms office even exists.
