I Know...I Know..!
...yes it's a 4 20 based site......
wanted to get in on the ground floor of this movement.

it's what I call my "Dump" site for all the offbeat Humor that I come up with
"Home Grown Humor"
this is my 1st site using Xara (PROX10) & I have to admit ..
I LOVE XARA!!!!
it is so easy !!
with a littlke work you do most anything you want.
I will be adding new designs weekly.

also I have started on another 2 sites
that will be more conservative & mainstream
one that will my personal Fine Arts items &
another for the Military/FireFighters , etc designs.
I ll post those when published.

I'm not sure all will appreciate your site, but DUDE, I like it.

I have a problem with the large smoke image background. It is 2.37MB and even on my very fast cable connection does not load immediately. Many of the heads have slower connections and older computers.

The image has exported as a PNG which is one of the reasons for the large file size. Optimize the image as JPEG and it will load a lot faster.

yeah ...it's not gonna be popular subject matter to some.

I thought that backgrnd was a jpg..?
I'll get it fixed.

ok .. fixed the pasteboard background
should load quicker
also made a smaller cropped version for the MOBI

question
how can I make the site load with a BLACK background
& then the background image load..?
where would I access the HTML in XARA to make happen ?
or could this be in the XARA document colors... how to change that ?

It still is taking a few seconds to load the background photo. The size is still 2.3MB and it is still showing as PNG.

Acorn may have a script to start off with a black background until the image loads. You add scripts to your document with a placeholder. A placeholder is a simple rectangle or any object that you can paste code or script into which inserts that code into your page's HTML. See Help > Placeholder Objects for more info.

Make sure your background image is not locked when you Optimize it to JPEG (Page & Layer Gallery > Unlock the Background layer, Optimize the image, then lock the layers again).

I downloaded your background image from your website, brought it into Xara, optimized the image to JPEG 192dpi and it fills the screen and the file size, while not petit, went from 2.52MB to 399K, a considerable saving in bandwidth.

hmmm.
I had optimized this image in Photoshop to a jpg @ 172kb
then set as the background ..not sure why it's showing as a .png to you
I will work on it & see what I can do
