Default How to use shape tool in order to write letters with mould?

    Hello everybody,

Trying to create a brush was hard, but i learned from the experts a lot here http://www.talkgraphics.com/showthre...ilmstrip-brush

Thanks to Egg Bramhill i am trying to apply his shape as a mould (rectangular) to shapes i created with the shape tool in order to write letters.

Is there any way to create a mould shape simply with the shape tool? otherwise how to transform that rectangular mould to editable shape in order to curve it the way i want ?

I appreciate very much your support!

if you use 'convert to editable shapes' on your mould it will then be editable with the shape tool - note you may get more than one shape, grouped; in your example a group of two shapes [edit - that's because you started with a group of two shapes in the first place of course..]

Wouldn't it be easyist to just use the frehand tool; it would still be editable albeit a line and you could work on it using the shape tool, and, convert the line to shape if need be. This would remain a vector whereas a mould would not.

Never give up. You will never fail, but you may find a lot of ways that don't work.

I think it's still a vector Larry if you convert to editable shape, provided you didn't use non-vector in the first place

trick would be to sync the two shapes here... much easier to only have the one... plus the track holes are a complication in terms both 'morph' and node count

in fact if I were to do this I'd do it in a program that does morphing for real which xara does not

In reply To Handrawn & Wizard, selecting the shape of Egg then clicking on mould icon to transform it to mould and right clicking afterwards to "convert to edditable shape" is not appearing !

Yes indeed ! but i thought i'd be able to shape it as a ribbon without space gaps in between, teh way you did it with that film strip !

Did u use the shape you created or simply redrawn it again ? Any hint ?

    Many thanks all!
