It's not often you see something familiar re-invented in a way you hadn't imagined. I think this kickstarter project looks pretty cool. The video made me smile. I wish I could afford one!

WHat particularly impressed me ( besides the basic idea) is that you could easily transport a friend.

The person with the passenger appeared to be pumping pretty hard but all and all it looks like a fun idea.

I was surprised at how quickly they were going.

I'd like to watch Rik taking either of these devices up Caversham hill ( a very steep hill nearish to Rik).

Certainly the lack of a seat means neither device is great for longer distances, but I could see the halfbike doing well in urban areas.

It is light and compact, indeed compare to bike.

Price of the finished product would need come down a bit as currently you are getting only half bike for the price of a full bike. Idea is clever but the Sinclair C5 also seemed like a good idea at the time and everyone knows how that worked out.

I see this more like a fun toy for younger people to replace skateboards and kickboards, than a serious competitor for the real bike as a daily transport and the price should reflect that.
