To finish up February’s Casino poster tutorial, you’re going to need some goodies and some advice. Gary provides both with a video round-up of novel techniques and a professional approach to page layout. Put your cards on the table, leave the room, and go warm up You Tube. See it now!

    Then post your posters here!

NOTE: There’s an error at about 4:16m that Gary discovered too late to correct. Instead of the Spacing tab on the Suits edit Box, Gary says Offset. The video does indeed show the Spacing tab, and Gary will offer to run on his sword for this misdeed, to every paying customer.

It might have been in two parts, but, that was really great.

Thanks for all your hard work, on this, Gary.

    So, here's my effort.

I'm glad I could help! Now, Clipview won't work properly unless the very bottom shape you want is at the very bottom. for example, if you have a small piece of text at the back of the layer and use Ctrl+A (Select, All), and then Q (apply ClipView), you'll get unwanted results.

    My Best,

    Gary

I thought I would try it with other type of poker chips.
    What do you think?

I like it, Rik! Actually, the poker chips I modeled and rendered are from amateurish, home game sets of cards, cheap plastic with those ridges. What you created (and apparently extruded) are genuine Las Vegas (or as we say here, "Lost Wages") chips.

Can you tell me which approach you used for making the brush?

The overall composition looks splendid, Rik, and it seems that you went to Stu's Font Diner for the fonts, didn't you? I think, but am not sure, I used my own fonts I bought from Fontdiner.com in the video.

Well, done, sir. You never gamble with a Bouton tutorial.

    Ouch,

    Gare

I did go to Stu's Font Diner for 'Featured Item' and 'Marker Monkey' fonts.
But, used a font that my son has, called 'Eurocentric' for Ladies Night.

For the brush, I actually used the topmost images (from your .xar file 'card suits strokes'), and simply created a brush from those.
I did not create a bitmap copy first, and then make a brush.
I simply used the images at the top, selected all of them, and created a brush. It worked for me.

I hope you like my new chips?!

The centre piece, with the writing: to me, that needs to be right at the back. On the felt, itself.
Therefore, I've placed the poker chips in front and the playing cards towards the front as well.

    What do you think, Gary?
Or have I missed a trick, somewhere?
