Klaus,
please say me if I am wrong or not about bitmap with alpha channels from Expression ?
see my post here
Thanks for your post about Picture Publisher; I really don't like Photoshop because of its silly memory management and thus I don't want to re-install nor upgrade it.

Hello All,
I ordered Expression 2. I just recently intalled it. This is going to be a fun program to play with. I'm a software junkie anyway.

Hi everyone
I had installed expression on my pc and tried it for a week>
I don't think that expression is any threat near Draw, Xara, Illustrator, Canvas, or freehand
it is different,
it deals almost perfectly with outlines, i would love to call it the outline application,
the ability to apply brush style(you have plenty of them) to objects and text is outstanding
and the speed of applying outline effects and changing it is the fastest a mong all found application
in that area, speed of applying outline effects and the vriaty of bruhs,
no application can come closer to it,
there is of course other features but they are not killers
It is limited, all the mentioned application above is much better than Experssion in :
1- blending
1- extruding
1- Transparency ( Xara and Draw)
1- Bitmap effects
1- node handeling
1- Brush effects and sprayers
1- Effects ( Distort, envelop,....)
1- ..... ect
so i think you need it only when you want to have an outline or true hand writting& drawing effects to your projects
i hope this help people wanted to know about it
thanks
I just bought expression2 and it is fairly limited compared to XaraX or others, what it does have is so different from any others that it's uniqueness makes it a valid app to have (if you're interested of course. It's quite nice in the stroke styles which include some waterly strokes rivaling Painter yet are still editable vector shapes

Dave, I've had Expression 1 for aboutr 3-4 years.
I agree, the ability to "paint" in a vector format is awesome. I've also used it to create a number of excellent .ai objects that I then import in to photoimpact. All in all, a very cool proggie..
