    A sad day but brilliant to see how many people were encouraged by his role in star trek to become scientists and astronomers and even astronauts. Wonderful man who not only overcame his own demons but helped others overcome them as well.

    Another of Nimoy's interests was astronomy, as shown in this ad from probably the 1970's to early 80's. I still have a newer version of the C-8 Schmidt-cassegrain (catadioptric lens and mirror optical system) in this ad and enjoyed seeing that Nimoy also liked this scope and astronomy.
