i want to use .htaccess to password protect a webpage. On my hosting site, which uses cpanel, I can protect a directory but not a file so want the protected page to be in a separate folder. i am using web designer 10 premium

    Hi Mike,

No need to use .htaccess if you can do it with cPanel. Just create a one page website with the required file and upload it to the password protected directory. When you link to this directory from your main site it will request a username & password before it serves up the file and only if the username & password are correct.
