Default Gradient text across multiple lines - best way to achieve?

Is the only way to make a gradient work on multiple lines to use a repeating gradient?

Is there another way that automatically applies the gradient to each new line of text in one block (without duplicating the text for each new line).

    Thanks

Is this what you are trying to accomplish? I added the black lines for reference.

Yeah, ok so the trick is just to use repeating fill and line it up with guide lines. Ok thanks.
