    Default XDP10 Upgrade cost - would you rather pay £70.46 or £79.00 ?

    Hello

    I just received an email offering to upgrade my Xara Designer Pro 9 to Xara Designer Pro 10.

    What is bizarre is if you select "United States" the price is:
    USD 97 ==> GBP 61.72
    However as soon as you admit to being from the UE the price ("including VAT for EU customers") suddenly jumps to:
    UDS 121.40 ==> GBP 77.26

    If you select "Euro" the price is
    Euros 89 ==> GBP 70.46

    If you select "United Kingdom" the price is
    ==> GBP 79.00

    Is this a case of "rip-off Britain"?

    I might be misunderstanding non-US tax laws, but that sounds like a case of tax being applied because the physical product is being shipped within the UK, whereas it wouldn't apply to an order to be sent to the US (and the tax is different when shipping to the EU).

    Go for the cheapest. If you can pay in Euros or USD and you have declared a shipping address then you are not evading any tax.
    Remember you will have a currency conversion charge at some point.
    USD pricing always seems cheaper.

    governments are responsible for setting applicable tax rates and for defining import/export regulations, not software companies
