Default Can Anybody Help. It's a Bush Problem

Now I got really fed up with Xara brushes that I stopped using them for the last 6 years and used Illy instead. Now I got asked to do a poster for local running club and I had a few ideas to do a few a lane type design. Like most folk did a search and came up with this tut but not using their design and at the moment I am back into Xara to do most small jobs that I want to take. I played about for 1/2 an hour but got nowhere can this be done in Xara? You can see tut here: http://blog.spoongraphics.co.uk/tuto...40623_26527696

I think your subject should say Brush and not Bush.

I have the solution. It could be a brush but a blend is easier. I'll post after I have my coffee.

Here is my solution - no brushes or bushes.

One solution with blends and one solution with a bush, er, I mean brush.

I used a different color for the alternating stripes. If you use white you can recreate the effect.

And I did not look at the tutorial.

Footnote: My blend was two 6px lines, each initial circle is even pixel amounts and places on the page at an even pixel location. The blend was converted to shapes, ungrouped and the lines converted to shapes. BUT the shapes are not consistent in width. I am not sure why but it should have been bang on and it was not.

A contour for the lines and a solid shape for the white works better. There is more consistency in the spacing.

I like the bush you did, Gary.
    Sorry. Sorry. I meant brush.

Joking aside, the brush works very well.
I also tried, but realised that small dots/squares works.
I initially tried small lines, and that didn't work.

Thanks for sharing your file, Gary.
Makes real sense, when you can look at the file.

Do you guys in U.S.A use the same dictionary definition for a Bush as in the UK? A plant with many small branches, or a large amount of hair ..................? Yey I figured out using contour tool & duplicating+scaling but the design I had thought about was a "hounds & hare type course that meanders around the page. Thought the only way that I could do this was to use a brush and while as I was trying to stay in Xara I had a shot at it. No problems I will do it in Illy and bring it back in to Xara for stiles and wall jumps and other illustrations along with text. I thought after 6 years not really using brushes I might be missing something. Still a lot of thanks for your replies and work really appreciate the help many brains are better than the one here.

Thanks Gary it took a few moments to get the settings but I have got the brush working for the lane width that I wanted. Think the reason my selection didn't work yesterday was that the selection was too large and made it even smaller than yours. Always forget to use named colours when making a brush. Thanks again for your work showing a so called mod how to do it.

Christine posted first and her solution was the same as mine. I like her illustration better because it also shows the areas to remove. Well done Christine.

Peter - I only think of the shrub thing with branches and leaves. Glad you got everything on track.
