Default Minimalist Film Poster - October 2014

Here is a true Xara challenge.

Can you improve on the James Bond Iris here:

I used three shapes to recreate the effect. The hole is a true hole so it can be placed over other objects.

See if you can better it such that it is still minimal and appears close to the James Bond creation.

Appeared to work Acorn. I like how it forms a circular opening, that is so cool.

Iris? Isn't it a view down a barrel showing the rifling? Here's my take but in no way minimalist But the only real James Bond though.

Iris! If it was the bullet's eye view then it wouldn't be as emotional.
Why would a bullet have a red mist descent when it is shot at?
I always took it to be the the hard, steely foe being countered by the suave, caring "They call me Bond" persona.

    My opinion anyhow.

My other opinion is that Sean's the one and only Bond.

    Perhaps an Off-topic chat?

Yours is far better than mine with the grey steel effect.

Acorn, I've alway thought of it as a barrel's eye view. See here

But many others obviously see it as an iris as a quick google search will reveal

I have seen every James Bond film made and can explain the red mist.

Egg is completely correct that what you are seeing is the rifling on the interior of the barrel. What you need to realize is that you are standing in the position of an assassin trying to kill 007. 007 walks on to screen and the barrel follows as the assassin tries to aim. James Bond is too quick and snaps out a shot which fatally wounds the assassin. The red mist is a metaphor for the assassin's death as blood pours from the gunshot wound.

After that little explanation I need a Vodka Martini - shaken not stirred...

Fully accept the rifling is that of a left twist 6" barrel with a pitch of 1/12.
However, red mist descending over the inside of a pistol barrel is illogical and physically impossible with a round in the chamber.
It makes more sense for it to be a metaphor for the dimming of the pistoleer's life, so my reference to an eye's iris can be equally valid.

Just wait for Bond meeting Asimov's "I, Robot" then you'll see.

That's why it's a metaphor dude; not literal

As for I, Robot. Man you are not taking into consideration the genius that is 'Q'. Bond would have an "I, Robot", three laws, metal head, localized EMP killer or something to play with

I'm with Egg and you, simply because of the traverse of the gun as though it's trying to aim. Now I've just got to work out how to do it (no clues please ...... just yet).
