I think I tried to open a TIF on the first beta and it came up fine but the new build (Oct 2) just has some outlines of the file. It looks like I ran it through an outline filter.

    Xara2 opens it OK

    Hello

I have the same build and have just opened a Photoshop tiff which comes in with the alpha channel intact. It displays the transparency, just like Png.

I just opened a TIFF generated by PhotoPaint 8 without problems.

I just tried, and the new beta opened
    TIF plain, without compression
    TIF plain, with LZW compression
    TIF with alpha without compression
TIF with alpha with LZW compression
just fine. All files were written with Photoshop.

    Guess it's your TIF-file's problem, not Xara's ..

Was the file first saved as Mac or PC? ... before import into X

    Just a thought.

    Please delete my last post.

    I tried Mac/tiff / CMYK

    "" "" Mac/tiff / RGB

    "" "" PC/tiff / CMYK

    "" "" PC/tiff / RGB

All imported fine ... Drag and drop as well.

I really ought to check these things first.

Upon further checking (which I should have done before...) it seems that it will open some other TIF files. The ones in question were rendered to disk from Bryce 2.

    Sorry everyone...

    Hi,

I remember my tiffs (but also PNG) which can not open in Xara X were rendered with alpha channel in Lightwave[6].

Thus perhaps the same problem than with Bryce???

all I know is that they open just fine with Xara2 but with the X, all they have are colored outlines. I can open TIF photo files OK with the X
