    Default Export to PDF problem

    Hi Xperts.

When I try and export my drawing to PDF, I run into problems.

First, the exported pdf was about 6Mb in size.
I then got rid of all the things I was using to make the drawing as I wanted it.
I removed any transparencies I had added. Removed any feathering, etc...

The file size might have got a better, but there is still a problem.

In the .xar file attached, you will see two gold rings with diamonds inside them.
The reason for duplicating the gold rings is to simulate the fact that I've got more stuff to add to the drawing.

when I try and export this to PDF, on one PC, I get an error that says:
Out: An unknown error occurred during linearization.

On another Laptop, I get an error that says:
PDF Filter: PDFNET error: , line 0. bad allocation

Any ideas as to what to do, guys and gals?

I exported your file as PDF/X3 and the file size is 52MB. Consider yourself lucky.

    I don't have issues, either.

But...I personally would make a hi-res PNG bitmap version of the both the pearls and diamonds and place them around the border and gold circle instead of all the vector pieces-parts. It's gonna PDF a lot easier and print identically. Design-wise it will be snappier too.

No issues 19.11 Mb file size. If it going to be a banner, larger than A4, then the bitmap route is not going to work. Rik what memory are you running in both laptop's as I think that where your running into problems. Remember the older PDF filter and how long it took to export PDF's and the number of errors it incurred when memory had to be smaller in machines. You could tell us what to do, via pencil sketch and we could assemble it for you so that you can get your birthday banner.
    Design is thinking made visual.

Thanks for your feedback and advice, everyone.

I think I will try and convert the diamond and pearl to bitmap, and see how that prints out.

Printing straight from Xara, things look OK.
I hope (and will try) things look as good when I convert to bitmap.

Once again, thanks for all the advice and feedback.
