Default My first responsive website using Web Designer 10

    Hello

As promissed (but a bit late because of DNS misconfiguration).

Here is my first responsive website using Web Designer 10:

    http://www.lecrouton.fr/

It's in french but you may guess, it's a restaurant website. If I remember well "crouton" is the same word in french and english.

I like the results on computer and cell phone (or small screen computer). But I would appreciate each and every comment and advises.

I used the adventure's theme. I modified this theme and added picture taken in the restaurant (and improved using XDPX9), and coming from image bank.

Thanks in advance for any comment, and advises.

    Regards

Well done Tod. It looks good. I checked the site on both my nexsus5 phone and my computer. the site displays very nicely on both.

One thing though the Menu du jour menu item should be labeled as a pdf. I didn't see anything on that button that indicated it was going to download a pdf. I thought it was another page.

Thanks for sharing this with us

Nice site, couple of things..... the pdfs should open in a new window or like Frances said be easily identifiable as download items, also on the contact page the small envelope icon does nothing, either does the facebook icon on first page. Lastly it would look better with a favicon added. Otherwise you have done a great job.

Lovely websites. Do you deliver? To New Mexico, USA?

I like to use Bing maps. They work for both desktop and mobile. I add a button then link to the URL instead of a placeholder. For example CLICK HERE FOR MAP.

Very nice. I viewed it on my htc desire and it looked fine. However why are you using pdf's to deliver your menus and not creating them in Xara. On a mobile I get the option to download the pdf but it views as a tiny file which needs the viewer to pinch and zoom. So the responsive bit is being lost in the menus section.

Thanks every body for your comments.
    I will try to improve
    • the pdfs opening in a new window
    • contact page the small envelope icon does nothing, either does the facebook icon on first page
    • a favicon
    • Bing map

PDF is not perfect for the menu, but it allows the client to create is own menu (Word => print as pdf) using a free pdf creator software, and upload on the website using filezila.
So client only pay once, then only pay for hosting.

    Sorry no delivery to USA

I corrected the contact link, and removed Facebook icon (waiting the client to create facebook page).
But I'm stuck with the "PDF in a new page". Navigation bar does not allow to open in a new window ?
I can add a rectangle on the navigation bar but this is not possible with the "navigation menu" used for smal device.
If anyone have any idea, your welcome.
If I find a solution, I'll post here.

home page should include restaurant location and contact details
menu festif direct to pdf is frankly bad practice, especially as a navbar item
i want to see the menu in my browser not open a new app to view it
