Leaving 32 bit XP. Will Design Pro x9 work on PC w/Win 7 64 bit? Ubuntu work?

Longtime XP user here; now confronted with XP's demise ... I'm researching new PCs with Win 7 and huge Ram & HD (seriously needed now). They all seem to be 64 bit. Will my Xara Design Pro x9 work on such a machine? thanks.

Anything else I should look out for? Ubuntu as OS is interesting to me; comments welcome on that, too.

You get both the 32bit and the 64bit version of Designer Pro X9.

I don't think Xara works on Ubuntu - Linux.
But, an Xpert will be along soon to answer that part of your question.

Helen, there is a free Linux build Xara application out there.
You can always run Windows as an emulator from Xara and have all your applications accessible that way or run Windows as a virtual image.

If you have XDPX9, I would go for the 64-bit processor as you will gain in memory.

I am running XP as I have NT4 way beyond support end.

Thank you both. I do have the XDPx9 disk so I assume I'll have a choice of 64bit when I install it on a new machine. (I will save/backup my current .xar files, of course!)

You can install both. The 64-bit version does not support 32-bit Photoshop compatible filters. The 32-bit version does.

The only restriction is you can only use one version at a time.
