logo the textnot cetered from the hieght either further from one edge or the other

I have logo which i am creating in Illustrator cs4. The part were i am
struggling to get right. Is the writing around the circle never is equal in the centre.
i am refereing to the height and not the width from the ascender to the descender i think the correct term .
here must be a proper way as the way i am is creating inaccurate results .

See on your "Type of a Path" options window what did you select? Ascender, Descender, Center, or Baseline. The reason I ask is that there are a few ways to do this job. What circle are you using to hold your text, can you see it or not.
