    Frances mentioned in post #52 that she used Filter Forge for the starry highlight. The Filter Forge people are friends and members of the tg community, and you can download some of their free presets here.

    Clearly, to get a good grasp on this amazing plug-in and standalone program, you'd need to stop watching TV for a month, probably send out for pizzas and Chinese during this educational-critical time, and honestly, I' hard pressed to see what procedure Frances used to get the twinkles.

    Angelize, you care to elaborate for Gilbert?

    Thaks!

    As I recall last time when visited Filter Forge website it was in some Beta state, but now going to that link can not be seen so they finalized their version?

    Also that 75% discount button is quite inspirating..

    If anyone knows how to simulate a lens flare using only Xara's features, please jump in here.

    I'll post my own solution in a day or two here.

    totally O/T as usual,

    I tried it some time ago. it was a lot of work to do and I don't remember the result worth all the effort.

    Never give up. You will never fail, but you may find a lot of ways that don't work.

    I'm attaching an illustration of a lens flare. You need to be careful how you use it, because it's several objects in different blend modes, to simulate all the elements in a camera lens.

    I made one a while back to fit a camera lens and give the effect of flash, you can see the various steps inside the lens.

    @Gary,

    I finally got around to looking at this tutorial and wanted to try to do something with a wisp of smoke in a video. Here is a first trial with Smoke14 using Video Pro X7, keyframing size, position, rotation, whirlpool, and distortion effects. I had never tried something like this before. Needs work to get it smooth, but I'll save that for another video.

    Thanks for the tutorial and the smoke, they will come in handy.

    I like how you animated the steam, John!

    Well done; keep trying stuff you've never tried before!

    My Best,

    Gary
