    Smile Moon Child

This illustration is inspired by thinking about the first time I really saw the moon through a small telescope (refractor type) and how stunned I was by it's beauty and amazing cratered desolation... From that moment on I've been an amateur astronomer at heart.

That brings back some fabulous memories.
Back in the late 80s, I had the pleasure of looking through a reasonably powerful telescope, at the Moon.
It was a crisp, clear and cold night.
To be able to see the craters on the moon and the definition.. Well, it was just brilliant.

    Great drawing, Maya.

Many thanks, Rik, for the comment and sharing your observing experience! It's always fun! I was able to participate in some public outreach sessions when I lived in states where I had a nearby astro-club. Saturn viewing was also a big hit with the public. Seeing the brighter planets and moon always impresses with 3Dviews.

With the great improvements in telescope lens and mirrors we have now, it would be fun to travel back in time with one and see what Galileo would have thought of the views we now are so fortunate to enjoy.

I like it, Maya. It's true what you say about the moon.

The stark difference between the Moon and Earth makes me appreciate Earth's environment even more! I'm glad you like this image, Gray. Thanks too!
