As per the screen shot, you can also click on the icon in the color line...

Also, when any color is displayed in the far left "current fill" indicator (look at the screen shot), if the color editor is not showing, dragging that current fill icon onto the color editor icon will open the color editor and the fill color can then be changed if desired.

Oh. One more thing. Dragging any color from the color line onto the Color Editor icon will make it a Named Color. You will get a Dialog box saying you cannot edit Library Colors, click on the Copy button. then click at the bottom of the Color Editor where the Named Color Tag is (not the one up at the top). Change the Name...Change the color to what you want.

Thanks Mike. The problem was that the color editor was already opened, but I had dragged it accidentally off the screen. So, clicking on the icon
    doesn't help.
I tried ctrl E also, but that doesn't work either.
But I have discovered that if I quit the program and restart it, I can again see the color editor. Hope that helps anyone that might run into this
    problem in the future.
