whenever i use bitmaps in my movie , when testing or exporting the movie, the final product comes out with red squares in place of where the bitmaps should be. Anyone know what im doin wrong? And I did make the bitmaps symbols, but still they end up as red squares in the end. I dont get it.......

It sounds like you are importing your images from the Main Menu> Edit> Import Objects Command. This is a function of Window's OLE (Object Linking and Embedding) feature. You need to import your images into flash using the Main menu> File> Import command. Regards, Bill

I have a friend who's been seeing this red-box bitmap problem, and he's been using the regular file->import for images as suggested in the last post. Is there some other reason why this might be happening? Oddly, when I try the exact same actions on my computer, it doesn't exhibit this behavior... Is there any way to update the version of OLE on his computer, or does that even make any sense? Any help would be greatly appreciated, as his work is at a standstill until he can figure out this problem.

    Regards,

Try going into your symbols and ungrouping/breaking apart everything in the symbol. Doubt it will help, but I've seen older versions of Flash (2 and 3) screw up when calling referenced objects from another reference (if that made sense to you). It's doubtful this is the problem now, but you can try...
