Drop Cap Challenge October 2013
I would like to continue the Drop Cap challenge by starting with the letter A and assigning a different letter each month until we have done the entire alphabet. By the time we are finished we should have a nice collection of colorful, decorative Drop Caps to use.
So starting this month make a decorative Drop Cap using the letter A. Any font, any style. Design your own letter if you want too.

What a nice idea Larry
And I get to be first! I've included my .xar file too. The background is fairly simple the letter was a hand sketch pencil on paper which I scanned and used the shape tool to lay down the line work in XDP9 colour added with the shape painter tool.

Well done, Larry. That's a great start to the challenge, Frances.
Mine is a font Art Nouveau Initials A (strangely using the upper case D).
The font has been converted to shapes and ungrouped a few times,
Next the Arrange Menu > Break Shapes operation, which leaves an unwanted solid shape over the design which is then removed.
I then coloured the various parts of the design and placed a pale yellow square behind everything and gave it a Petals Brush outline.
Then another square with no fill behind that, with a thick green line with an Intestine stroke shape.

Well done Frances, Bob, and ankhor. This is getting off to a fantastic start.
@Bob, Thank you for the description on how you did yours, I think many will benefit from that, including me. This is going iin my tips and tricks section.
@ everyone I am saving all these images as we go along. There should be a large collection of TG member created Drop Caps by the time we are done.

A large A from AR HERMANN font, into a shape, a few embellishments and a Rectangle with a Bevel.
