Automatic hyphenation in Xara Designer Pro X9

I have posted this reauest long ago for Version 6 if Xara Designer Pro.

I like Xara above all Ggrahics packages and use it for most of my DTP and Design work. Not for websites. The one thing most missing is a hyphenation routine for key languages like Word has it or other DTP software. Yes you can insert soft hyphens ...
But thats a lot of work for flyers and brochures with a lot of text.

So in short: When will we get this? It would be breakthrough feature.

I do not know. My guess is soon (next release). But this is just a guess. Over the years, Xara has added a variety of DTP features and this should be one of the next features.

What do you use for web design?

We develop dynamic Content Mangement Websites with classic asp, non static, and create the design from scratch. The menubars and the font and color design are ccs based. Much is done with javascript. So wait and see when we get hyphenation ...

I think most users would prefer the ability to create responsive sites than auto-hyphenation. I use Xara for all my web design work because I can do everything in one program. But responsive would be great.

I have been use Xara since Xara Xtreme5 for print (along with QuarkXpress and Scribus for DTP - magazines, bulletins...) and later for web. Now I'm considering to transfer all of our DTP work to Xara (currently on Xara Designer Pro X10) but there is lack of some professional text features.

With no doubt automatic hypenation is needed for longer text boxes and documents in print and web as well as justifying for print. This features should be managed from the Page option (on the level of the whole page/document) as well as from the text toolbar (on the level of the current textbox!) or for the text style.

I hoped this would be in Xara X10 already, but it did not make it. My hope now that is will be in the next version that should come soon. Does anybody know something about the new features we can expect in Xara X 11?

Xara does not reveal what new features it plans to add to the next releases. But I think there will be a lot of attention given to the DTP area because there was almost no new features in this area in DPX10 and the TG members were not happy about that. And there has been a lot of requests for auto hyphenation. So we shall see.

Thanks for the reply. Any idea when the next release is scheduled? In earlier years we mostly had a new release in April. Web Designer 11 is out already ...
