    Agree with Gary, the aroma is more focused in the more fluted glass, the glass on the left is more for stuff like sherry. I have also read recently that a glass with small dimples on the bottom causes sparkling wine to release more bubbles and therefore taste better.

    2 for that bottle of wine, 1 if it was red. Something to do with temperature I was told many moons ago

    You might refer to the fact that white wine is served cool and the tall stem allows you to hold the glass without touching its bowl. With red wine, mostly served at room temperature, you actually want to hold the glass's bowl in your hand as your body heat will bring out its aroma even more.

    Both red and white wines and sparkling wines - e.g. champagne are best served in glassed that are more closed at the top (see here for examples). And room temperature does not mean room temperature unless your room is about 68F degrees. White wine should be served cool, but not refrigerated/chilled. Chilled wine does not release the flavors and aromas.

    Any of them wine matters more than the glass
