Colouring the drawing in stages using only the Shape Painter (and rubbing out with the Shape Painter + Shft):

It's wonderful, Frank, and more of an illustration than a cartoon.

And I'm glad you mentioned the shortcut to undo a Shape Panter stroke because I neglected to. Holding Shift in effect acts sort of like the Eraser tool.
