    Default Full address for images

Is there a way to set-up Web Designer 7 to include the full web address for images instead of the short version?

For example I want img src=http://website.com/folder/image.jpg instead of img src=/folder/image.jpg

    Thanks

    Welcome to TalkGraphics

To what purpose do you want to do this?

When you publish your website in Web Designer, Xara creates a folder called index_htm_files (or index_html_files). Everything except your HTML files are placed in this folder and this is where the browser looks for the image. So if you want to use the full path it would have to include the index_htm_files folder in the path, for example mysite.com/index_htm_files/image.jpg

So theoretically you can do this but it seems totally unnecessary.

    What am I missing?

You could place a box the size of the image.
Then in Web Properties > Placeholder > HTML code (body), insert the IMG tag with the full URL.

I suppose it is one way to plunder another site or use the image name for SEO purposes but it seems overkill.

If it was for several images, I would use jQuery to prepend the full path to named files, a lot of work though.

    Well, that's the short answer.

I guess sledger has answered my question.

What I mean is that the html created by Web Designer 7 shortens the address for the images. I'm trying to create an html email. But, if the image source address is not complete the images don't show up on the email. I'm looking for a way around this. Any ideas?

Elsewhere, PeteS recently suggested that the use of the BASE tag might work.

    It was http://www.talkgraphics.com/showthre...highlight=base.

This has been a semi-regular topic for many years, it's not possible with Xara (Web)Designer applications to create HTML email templates.
If were easy or even possible it would certainly be an advertised feature on the xara.com product pages as it would surely sell more copies of their software. There would probably even be email templates in the Designs Gallery.
There's more to it than just absolute URLs for images.
The base tag was suggested many times, it does not work.

As I said in the other thread, it was a quick though I had and hadn't tried it, all the usual disclaimers that follow

You could try the image slicing feature...
