This on my wish list for the Bevel tool.

The way it is now the bevel tool works so you are looking straight down on the object. i.e. the beveled edges are equal on all sides. This is fine for a web button, which I'm sure was the reason it was developed.

As everyone who participates in this forum knows the creative use of XaraX I'm quite certain has excellerated far beyond what the developers ever could possibly dreamed it could.

So here is my wish for the next version. Please make a bevel function where you can control the width of each side of the bevel.

Yes that would be a very handy option. In the mean time have you considered using Xara3D as a work round? I know its long winded, but you can at least achieve some of the effects your after.

I agree Judi. Sort of like CorelDRAW's extrude tool but without the facets.

Since the technology already exists in Xara 3D I suspect we may see it in a future release of Xara X, maybe Xara XI or Xara XII?

While on this topic here is something else to consider. Gary, I think you may have touched on the following before.

I have used the round bevel to give "depth" to an object by giving bevel low levels of contrast. However, what I have to manually do is careful tweek the light elevation AND redue the object's fill color so there is no "transition line" between the face of the object and the bevel.

I would like to an option in the Info Bar to allow the bevel to transition smoothly back to the color of the face.

Better yet, create a new Lighting Tool which would allow a light to be positioned on a object, group of objects, or the entire drawing. Perhaps with an option to create drop shadaws at the sametime.
